From 1959 autoclubs in NSW were allowed to issue their own plates. Initially they could make there own design, but later on it was preferred to have a standard style. Each club might choose (within the standards set) their own colors and they always had the club's name/initials on a seperate mounted bar on top of the plate. Earlier plates only showed numbers, whereas later versions have "Vintage Car" added to it. A few clubs opted for the possibility to keep the plates they designed prior to the standardization. Two of these rarities are shown below on the first two positions: IVCC : Illawarra Vintage Car Club and Cootamundra Antique Motor Club. In 2002 all individual club plates (designed and colored) were replaced by an official uniform plate for all historic vehicles. You will find this new style plate at the very bottom of this section. |
